Walden Hosts 2025 Van Cliburn Finalist

A note from Camilla Bonzo:

The Walden Chamber Music Society is a local 501(c)3, we're in our 23rd season here in the Upper Arkansas Valley, and our mission is to present classical chamber music concerts performed by world-class musicians at an affordable price. We are currently fundraising for next season, and our goal is $16,000. This campaign will culminate in a concert recital at a private residence in Buena Vista on June 28, 2026, performed by Philipp Lynov, a finalist of the 2025 Cliburn International Piano Competition.

The performance will be followed by a light hors d'oeuvres reception.

Between now and early June, I am approaching individuals and businesses about sponsoring at the Gold ($2,000+), Silver ($1,000-$1,999) or Bronze ($500-$999) levels. Sponsors will receive two tickets to the concert, plus:
-- prominent recognition at the entrance to the venue,
-- printed recognition on the concert program,
-- recognition on our website and any social media posts about the event, and
-- printed recognition in next season's program.
Gold level sponsors will also receive verbal acknowledgement from the stage before the concert.

The concert this June is capped at an audience of 60, but our four concerts next season we will be at a public venue in Salida so the exposure opportunity will be much greater - a potential 880 views from November 2026 - May 2027.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Best,
Camilla

I bought the piano second hand from a music teacher in Denver who purchased it new from Wells Music.  After I moved from Denver to Silverthorne I had a certified Steinway technician remove the keyboard component and take it back to their store and completely refurbish the keyboard with new bushings and anything else that was needed.  I was told that this year's model sometimes had bushings trouble though I did not experience that.  Just wanted the piano to be in the best condition.  I was told they also regulated the action but don't know what that entails.

I have it tuned periodically every time the piano tuner for the NRO (National Repertory Orchestra) comes up from Denver.  It has not been tuned for about a year.  The tuner told me that the string pins were tight and there were no problems there.  He also said the sound board did not have any cracks.

I love this piano and have had many wonderful years playing it but can no longer do so. The base is rich and the treble is brilliant.  It is always covered when not being played to keep it dust free.

June 2026 Program Suggestions

Hi, all,

By popular vote, the (optional) theme for June 2026's party, hosted by Kim and Mike, will be:

🇺🇸 🇺🇸 American composers, in celebration of the 250th birthday of the US! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Any genre of music by American composers, including emigres.

Some suggestions:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronological_list_of_American_classical_composers

https://www.pianistmagazine.com/blogs/5-american-composers-for-the-piano-that-you-have-to-discover/

Composers that lived/emigrated in the US:

If you don't want to choose an American composer - no problem at all. It's optional.

Thanks for heading this up, Kim!

Foster This Great Piano

The owner of this fine piano is looking for someone to house it for 1-2 years while she builds a new home in Buena Vista, Colorado.

It's a Sohmer upright. It was purchased in 1992 and has been very lightly used, kept in a warm place and tuned. It has a great tone. Ebonized maple.

You can borrow it for free for a couple of years!
